Technicians using glass-handling tools to set a windshield at HiWay Auto Collision Center

Glass and Windshield Replacement

Clear visibility and a properly sealed, properly calibrated windshield.

A damaged windshield is not just a visibility problem, it can also affect the structural integrity of your vehicle and the performance of its safety systems. We repair small chips before they spread into cracks, and replace windshields and other auto glass when repair is not enough.

Many newer vehicles rely on a front-facing camera mounted near the windshield for driver assistance features such as lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking. When a windshield with this type of camera is replaced, that camera needs to be recalibrated, and we account for that as part of the job.

Chip Repair vs Full Replacement

Small chips and short cracks can often be repaired quickly, which stops the damage from spreading and preserves your original factory seal. Once damage grows beyond a certain size, or sits directly in the driver's line of sight, full replacement is the safer option.

We will inspect the damage and recommend the appropriate option rather than defaulting to a full replacement when a repair will do.

ADAS Camera Calibration

If your vehicle uses a windshield-mounted camera for driver assistance features, that camera must be recalibrated after the windshield is replaced so those safety systems continue to function as designed. We factor this into the replacement process for equipped vehicles.

Side and Rear Glass

In addition to windshields, we replace door glass, quarter glass and rear windows, using quality glass and proper sealing procedures to keep your vehicle weathertight.

Glass and Windshield Replacement FAQs

Answers to common questions about our glass and windshield replacement services in Brampton and the GTA.

Can a small windshield chip be repaired instead of replaced?

In many cases, yes. Small chips and short cracks that have not spread too far, and are not directly in the driver's sightline, can typically be repaired, which is faster and preserves the original factory windshield seal.

How long does a windshield replacement take?

A typical windshield replacement can often be completed within a couple of hours, though the adhesive used to seal the new windshield needs time to properly cure before the vehicle should be driven. We will let you know the recommended wait time for your specific vehicle and the adhesive used.

Does my new windshield need to be calibrated?

If your vehicle has a windshield-mounted camera for driver assistance features like lane keeping or automatic braking, yes, that camera needs to be recalibrated after replacement so those systems work correctly. We will confirm whether your vehicle requires this.

Is windshield replacement covered by insurance?

Many Ontario auto insurance policies include glass coverage, sometimes with a separate or reduced deductible. Coverage details vary by policy, so we recommend checking with your insurance provider, and we are happy to help with the claim itself.

Can I drive right after my windshield is replaced?

The adhesive that bonds and seals your windshield needs time to cure before the vehicle is safe to drive. We will give you a specific wait time based on the products used and the weather conditions on the day of your appointment.
